Nia -Stop Exercising, Start Having Fun

clip_image002 STOP EXERCISING, START HAVING FUN!

Do you remember what it felt like as a child to skip, jump, and dance for joy?

clip_image006WHAT IS NIA?

Nia (nee’uh) is a non-impact cardiovascular feel-good workout. Nia combines dance and martial arts. Drawing on the stillness and concentration of Tai Chi, the power of Tao Kwon Do or Akido and the grace and rhythm of modern and world dances, Nia just feels good. You need no prior training. Anyone can do Nia!

WHAT WILL I GET FROM NIA? Stress and tension fall away, agility and stamina increases, coordination, balance and body awareness improves, posture improves, and a sense of personal power and confidence is gained.

clip_image008You feel powerful and graceful. You will find yourself doing Nia because you love the way you feel while you are doing it. Here’s what people are saying:

“I absolutely love Eve’s Nia class! It is great to be able to exercise without judgement and to allow yourself to experience pure abandonment”. Madeleine Polemeni

“Nia allows me to feel free, everything I do is right and feels good…I am often surprised that I am sweating” Gayle Schoenfeld

“Nia gives me a strong, graceful body, a peaceful mind, and a free spirit. There is a big increase in my stamina and conditioning. I have a sense of being grounded, centered and energized.” Julie Antupit

“Nia has changed the way I see my own body. “I feel so beautiful doing Nia – and I feel beautiful afterwards. Fat days just don’t happen anymore!” Lynda

“An hour of fun, exciting movement that relieves my tension and energises me for the whole day.”

Martina Roberts

HOW IS IT DONE?

Nia is taught in easy-to-follow steps. You can work at your own level, modifications are offered—so it can be a high-powered cross training workout, or an easy moving meditation. Classes last one hour. There is one “warm-up song”, approximately eight cardiovascular songs, and few cool down, “floorplay” or stretch songs. Floorplay is dynamic floorwork based on yoga in motion.

LOOKS FUN, BUT I’M NOT A DANCER—

Nia is not about perfection or performance, it is about enjoying yourself. Since it’s not about getting it right, there is no right or wrong way to do it. The movement is based upon the idea that if you do what feels good, you can’t go wrong.
